Chef O'Connell started as many do, as a dishwasher many years ago at the American Sports Bar. Self taught, Chef O'Connell would "train" in some of Buffalo's great restaurants including Dakota Gril and Left Bank. He would eventually become Executive Chef at his mother's restaurant O'Connell's American Bistro, where he would receive the coveted 4 stars from Buffalo News Critic Janice Okun and the Silver Plate award from the WNY Food and Wine Society. Chef O'Connell went on to open successful ventures in Los Angeles California, which included two gourmet food trucks and catering for some of Hollywood's top production companies and movie studios. The Standard is an opportunity for Chef O'Connell to bring his "Modern Steakhouse and Oyster Bar" menu to his home turf. Chef is in the kitchen daily and loves the opportunity to greet and speak with all of the guests.
